• Always set the right temperature

Keep the refrigerator temperature between 37 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the freezer at 0 degrees

• Have a look at the door seals

There is every possibility that the seal of the door of the refrigerator is not proper. This may allow air to seep past the refrigerator. So clean the door seals making sure it is free of any food residue. You can clean them by using a toothbrush and a solution of baking soda and water.

• Coils should be clean

The condenser coils which are on the backside of the refrigerator may be covered in dust which doesn’t allow it to run efficiently. You should vacuum them often by turning off the power first.

• Pump it up

Never keep your fridge empty. It needs thermal mass to maintain the low temperature. If food to be stored is less then to fill up the space, make sure to put some bottles of water to nullify the effect.

• Refresh the refrigerator

Avoid the odors from the fridge and start using an air freshener that comes specifically for it. These are really effective.

• Defrosting

When frost accumulates on the walls of the freezer to a noticeable limit. Then clean and remove all food from the fridge/freezer, turn off the thermostat and let the frost melt. Once it turns back to normal, you can use it as used earlier.

Also, some day to day measures can be taken for the betterment of your refrigerator such as :

• Cover food items that would prevent its odor to spread throughout the cooling storage.

• You can keep an open box of baking soda to take in all the odor.

• Clean and clean well whenever required.
