Damaged Diode : Diode is one of the most important component of your microwave which converts incoming A/C power to high voltage D/C. This high voltage is used by magnetron to heat or cook food. So, if there is defect in diode or it has burnt out, the magnetron does not get enough voltage to heat or cook food.
Defective Magnetron : After diode, the second most important component is magnetron. The microwave oven is mainly powered by the magnetron tube that utilizes high voltage producing microwave frequency responsible for cooking food. If you run the microwave empty, it can cause the magnetron to burn out. A damaged magnetron cannot be repaired and has to be replaced.
Defect in High Voltage Capacitor : The high voltage capacitor and high voltage diode work together to convert the output of A/C power to high voltage D/C in order to double the output voltage.
