Some of the common fridge problems that require repair are:
Water leaking from refrigerator: Blocked defrost drain is the main cause of water leakage problem in the refrigerator.
Refrigerator not cooling: Faulty thermostat, damaged compressor, defrost timer, damaged condenser fan and inadequate refrigerant level are the reasons for your fridge not cooling properly.
Refrigerator getting too cold: Air flow problem, defrost problem, cold control problem are the causes which makes your refrigerator too cold.
Fridge Compressor not working properly: Compressor is responsible for compressing the refrigerant and circulating the refrigerant through the condenser and evaporator. So a damaged compressor is the reason for your fridge to not work properly.
Fridge is making noise: If your fridge is making loud noise then condenser motor fan is responsible for it. Air over the condenser coil is circulated by condenser fan in order to remove heat which is produced. Debris gets collected which prevents the condenser fan from moving freely.
Frost formation in the freezer: Keeping the refrigerator door open for too long ends up increasing the humidity level inside the refrigerator which leads to frost formation.
Damaged thermostat: A damaged thermostat will not be able to send start signal to the capacitor and the refrigerator will not turn on.
Soiled condenser coil: If the condenser coil is covered with grime and dirt then it will prevent the heat from dissipating properly and your refrigerator will not work.
Broken MCB (miniature circuit breaker): MCB can also stop the refrigerator from working. If your refrigerator stops working then check MCB.
Damaged refrigerator power outlet: Check the power outlet with some other device such as lamp to see if the power outlet is working properly or not.
The light inside the refrigerator not working: One of the reasons might be that the light bulb inside the refrigerator has reached the end of its lifespan. If you shake the bulb then you will hear the rattling sound which will tell you that the filament are damaged.

This happens due to several reasons:
Faulty Thermostat: A poor thermostat can stop the refrigerator from working properly. In order to make the refrigerator work, thermostat needs to send start signal to the capacitor. If you come across such situation then call the professionals for fridge repair.
Damaged Compressor: A compressor is the most important part which is responsible for the proper functioning of the refrigerator. A damaged compressor can stop the refrigerator from cooling.
The defrost timer: Defrost system is responsible for controlling the cooling and defrost cycle of the refrigerator. The excessive frost gets build-up on the evaporator coil which ends up reducing the air flow.
Damaged condenser fan motor: A condenser fan is responsible for forcing hot air out of the refrigerator. So a faulty condenser fan stops the hot air from getting released in the room and it remains inside the refrigerator. This makes the temperature inside the refrigerator go up.
Inadequate refrigerant level: Restricted refrigerant also affect the cooling inside the refrigerator.
Condenser coil is the most important part of the refrigerator. Here are some of the reasons why you should clean them:
To maintain refrigerator's longetivity and for proper cooling.
Refrigerator releases excess heat in the condenser coil to prevent overheating. If you don't clean it then you might run the risk of overheating which will increase your electricity bill.
First unplug the refrigerator
Use brush to clean the coil so that debris loosens up. You can even use old toothbrush to clean the coils.
With the help of vacuum cleaner's brush attachment clean all the dust from the coil.
In the end plug the refrigerator.
It is recommended to clean the condenser coil every 6 months.
The most common reason for water leakage is blocked defrost drain. Debris block up the drain hose of the refrigerator which leads to ice formation and finally water will come down of the refrigerator.
There are many reasons for refrigerator getting too cold:
Thermostat not set correctly: The first and most important thing that you should do is to check the thermostat setting. An accurate thermostat setting is very important to maintain the right temperature. A temperature between 36 to 39 degree Fahrenheit should be maintained. As temperature above this can end up spoiling the food and the temperature below this can cause freezing.
Defective temperature control thermostat: Thermostat is responsible for controlling the compressor, evaporator fan, condensor fan during the cycle. If the thermosat gets deteriorated then the refigerator will not come to know when to stop or start the cooling. So under such circumstances either the refrigerator may not cool or may cool gradually.
Damaged thermistor: A thermistor is a sensor which is connected to the temperature control thermostat board and is responsible for controlling the air temperature inside the refrigerator. As soon as the temperature inside the refrigerator goes down to a certain level the thermistor immediately gives signal to the thermostat to start up the compressor and start the cooling cycle and same thing happens the other way round. So if a thermistor is defective it will not be able to send signal to the thermostat and the thermostat will not come to know when to start up the compressor.
If you set the refrigerator temperature low then it will not only make your refrigerator work overtime but also spoil and freeze some of your food items.
Damage in condensor fan motor: Damage in condensor fan motor is one of the reason behind refrigerator making noise. In order to remove the heat that gets produced in the process of compression of refrigerant a condensor fan circulates air over the condensor coil. Dirt and debris also prohibits the condensor fan from working properly.
Damaged evaporator fan motor: Damaged evaporator fan motor can also cause your fridge to make loud noise. Evaporator fan is responsible for circulating cool air in the food area. If the evaporator fan blade is damaged or loose then it will end up making loud noise.
Old compressor: If you hear a loud noise then your refrigerator's compressor is at fault. Refrigerator technicians should be called immediately.
Defective defrost timer: A defrost system consists of defrost timer and a defrost heater. Defrost timer is responsible for managing and controlling the cooling and defrost cycle in the refrigerator. A defrost timer is responsible for swapping the refrigerator between cooling and defrost mode. Several times throughout the day the defrost timer turns on the defrost heater in order to melt the frost that gets gathered on the evaporator coil. So a damaged defrost timer will stop the refrigerator from cooling effortlessly.
Damaged defrost heater: A defrost heater is responsible for melting any frost that gets accumulated on the evaporator coil. But if the defrost heater is defective then frost will not melt and the excessive frost will get accumulated on coils and this will end up reducing the cool air flow inside the refrigerator.
Damaged defrost thermostat: Damaged thermostat is also one of the reason for defrost problem in the refrigerator. A defrost heater is lined or connected to defrost thermostat. A defrost thermostat is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the evaporator coil. When the cooling coils gets cold, signal is immediately send to defrost heater to turn on. So a damaged thermostat will not be able to monitor the temperator of the coils and it will not turn on the defrost heater. If the defrost heater does not turn on then the fridge will not be able to start the defrost cycle.
If you leave the refrigerator door open for too long it will end up raising the humidity level inside the refrigerator which will lead to ice and frost formation.
A damaged seal is also one of the reason for ice build up in the refrigeraor.
The simplest step to prevent the ice formation is not to leave the refrigerator door open for too long. But if you notice that if you open it and it does't close on their own then this could be the reason for ice formation.
The gas that refrigerator leaks are not dangerous at all as it is inflammable and is odorless.
If the refrigerator does't release the gas then it don't need gas refilling. Refrigerator and freezer only needs to be refilled with gas in case of gas leakage problem.
HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane) is used in the refrigerator.
Throw away the rotten food items.
There should be adequate free space in the refrigerator as it will make it easy for the cool air to flow. Not only this, it will also keep the food fresh for longer period of time.
If you see any spilled food in the refrigerator then clean them immediately as this can cause foul smell.
Baking soda has the tendency to absorb any strong odor so it can be kept in the small plastic bottles at the bottom of the refrigerator.
It is recommended not to use bleech for refrigerator cleaning. Bleach contains strong chemical and it can make you fall sick by coming in contact with the food. It is always better to go for natural cleaner.
A clean and well maintained refrigerator will prevent you from falling sick. Food poisoning is something that we have all experienced at least once in our life. So a properly maintained and clean refrigerator will keep it away.
